Andromeda (Messier 31) is 2.537 million light years away. The neighboring galaxy below Andromeda is Messier 32. This photo is a combination of 300 photos taken over a 3 hour period from my back porch in Boise, Idaho. No telescope was used. Just a 70-300 Canon lens on a Canon camera.
Mark Jackson has been an experienced photographer for several decades. He specializes in landscapes, nature and astrophotography (stars, planets, Milky Way, etc.) He is also an avid astronomer and uses a solar telescope as well as a Celestron telescope to capture astrophotography images.
